Heart Unveils Electric Propulsion System for ES-19 Airliner

提交時間:

Heart Aerospace on Wednesday unveiled the electric propulsion system that will power the ES-19 regional airliner it claims will be ready to enter commercial service in the summer of 2026. The Swedish company, which is backed by EQT Ventures, also announced that it has secured €2.5 million ($2.9 million) in financial support from the European Innovation Council Green Deal Accelerator Program. The 19-seat ES-19 features four propellers powered by electric motors. The preliminary design for the… (www.ainonline.com) 更多...

What is recharge time?

The battery packs remaining charge, current, voltage and temperature are some factors that govern the battery charging times.

Somebody should commission this guy to build a full size aircraft :-) https://youtu.be/LqwUpuqxleE

Can the pitch of the props be adjusted to charge the batteries on the descent?

180 knot cruise. 215 NM range. No mention of battery capacity (kWh) or recharge time. What’s not to like? ;-)

Oh, and seven-blade props? Any particular reason why?

7 blades: probably because electric engines have LOTS of torque.

Moving lots of air more slowly is also quieter than moving less air quickly.

Precisely. And the lower sound levels correspond to higher efficiency. Plus fewer prop tips means less tip-drag loss. So big two-bladed slow-rotating props are optimum for efficiency. Seven-bladed props are only used if you have a severe problem with ground clearance. Seven blades yield more moving parts, more complexity, more weight, higher noise, and lower efficiency.

And will carry two, pilot and copilot due to battery weight flight will last about an hour.

Many European regional flights are just a few miles, connecting islands with the mainland. Airplanes like the Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander are popular for this type of service, and the ES-19 would fit that role nicely. The quiet and ecological operation would also be welcome.

Besides what is required for the 4 electric engines additional power is required by the radar, other avionics, the battery temp systems, A/C Pack, landing gear, LED lighting and anti-icing.
