This is exactly why ATC for instance in the US can NOT go on strike. The ignorant greed of a few should not be able to alter the lives of so many others. Simply, John Q. Public has no time, does not care and will not tolerate their actions affecting the lives of so many others. If this were to happen in the US I would hope that Trump would emulate Reagan and fire them all (and make it so they can never work in the transportation sector again). Group Bargaining is for idiots who are not capable of working out their own life issues.

People with a particular skillset do not owe you anything, friend, and if their jobs are so important then they should be compensated as such. Supply and demand and whatnot. The idea that these skilled people must work for whatever a company feels like paying them is warped, to say the least. Not exactly the idea behind the free market.

Collective bargaining (fixed it for you) is the foundation of the middle class. The angry idiots who voted for Trump out of spite are seeing their jobs and living standards erode because unions are being systematically dismantled in the United States leaving individuals to fend for themselves against large corporate entities. Guess who has the advantage there.

Reagan was a senile B-movie actor, by the way, and his firing of air traffic controllers at the behest of his handlers was really nothing more than the early stages a long line of union breaking techniques used by conservatives to gut the middle class in favor of those at the top.

Talk about ignorance... But fine. Bury your head in right-wing propaganda and cheer for the television while the world burns down around you. Because you need to catch a flight.

btweston - During my 40+ year work history, I've worked as a union employee, non-union employee and in management. One thing that I've learned is that the unions generally view the employers as the bottomless pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, with little regard to the actual operations of the company. Yes, the unions have a duty to get as much as they can for their members, but it does little good if the companies they negotiate with end up going out of business because they cannot remain competitive due to labor and benefit costs. Just look at what the Teamsters did to trucking companies in the USA.

Forgetting the part about the teamsters (I deal with them every day and they are alive and well. Most of them are pretty nice guys), companies need people to do jobs. That's why they pay people to begin with. I have a nice job that pays well with benefits, and there's a reason for that. You can't do my job, Dave can't do my job, Jose, and RECOR10 can't do my job. My job is worth something. The idea is that if I agree with the rest of my coworkers that we are suddenly getting screwed we should say, "Hey, company. If you want to make money, you need us. Pay us, and we will gladly do your bidding." That is the essential purpose of a labor union.

RECOR10 doesn't understand that. He thinks that people should do whatever he wants because he listens to Rush Limbaugh or Alex Jones (even crazier) or something.

Sure, I can not do what you do (what ever that is), you also can not do what I do. I charge a fee for my skill set based on my own merit. You I would presume do not as you are potentially part of "collective bargaining". We, to be safe when building a new surgical center were certain that in the bidding process only laborers who "could not strike" due to non-union labor of other trades being on site limited our bids to only non-union labor (we had some electrical union idiots cause an issue over another labor force in the past).

The facility went up on schedule and under budget. We never not once worried about some stupid picket line and or inflatable rat that seems to be the beck and call (the best thing, the 'picketers' were labor from a temp agency!!!!

I will not even drive an American car due to my hatred of the UAW (German unions are not an issue for my lifestyle). I have seen many UAW families hurt due to the greet of their "representatives". As I said, with luck SCOTUS will rule that non-union members in union shops do NOT have to pay dues for a club they do not want to be a member of.

Lufthansa Group chairman and CEO Carsten Spohr has said these types of flight cancellations may reduce the carrier’s chances of further expanding Vienna as a hub, affecting employees....

Cut off their nose to spite their face...stupid.

Really? The adversarial CEO said that during negotiations? Lol?

I guess you solved the whole problem.
