I love it when a plan comes together.
Got to admit kinda shocked this wasn't already in a collection somewhere.

I thought this one was up at Wright Pat in the Air Force Museum. They must have another Connie dressed up to look like it. Very nice to see the real one rise again.

The Connie at Wright Pat is Columbine III, the third and final Columbine-named Air Force One used by President Eisenhower. Columbine II and III were newer models of their predecessors.

Thanks 30west! A day is never wasted if you learn something.

Last time I saw this Connie was at the Pima Air Museum complete with Kennedy's orthopedic chair. It was in 2003, IIRC. A 707 painted with AF1 livery was just across the spot where the Connie was parked. I was told by the curator that the Connie was the presidential aircraft prior to the 707s being delivered.

If ever there was an airliner with the grace, poise, and classic good looks of Greta Garbo, this is it.
