提交時間:

Chad Kennedy, 29, walked away the Cessna 152 that he landed 6 miles south of Interstate 10 off of Highway 365. Kennedy was in route from Ellington Field in Houston to Lakefront Airport in New Orleans when he ran out of gas and brought the plane down in Fannett. (www.beaumontenterprise.com) 更多...

It would be nice to have a photo journalist on the scene of every aviation incident (with access) so we can see what we're reading about and discussing.

He found a nice place to put it down.

Experienced? Wonder what kind of experience. Everyone knows a Cessna 152 has 4 seats.

I highly doubt this one had it since it's a trainer, but some had a mod for two seats in the back for very small children...

>> Kennedy, an experienced pilot, was flying a Cessna 152 - a small, four-seat, single-engine plane - on a run from Houston's Ellington Airport back to New Orleans' Lakefront Airport when air traffic controllers noticed his altitude dipping, Davis said.

How does an experienced pilot on a flight from Houston to New Orleans manage to run out of fuel in Texas?

From the description of the location, it sounds like he was less than 1/4th of the way to his intended destination. That's not just a slight fuel miscalculation.

Right, sounds like he somehow forgot to fuel up during his stop in Houston. But he should still be checking the fuel gauges periodically and divert if necessary.

Well, he definitely diverted.

I bet all his friends and family think he's a great pilot now, I'd like to know what his future examiner will put him through...

You think the "experienced" polot miblithe dealing with a faulty gas gauge.

Guess he might of thought that he had enough gas for the trip out and the return trip.

You would have to be a fool to rely on the gas gauge of a 152.......talk about primitive.

The C-152 has only two seats, period. There is a place to put a light suitcase behind those setas but that is all. The journalist who wrote the piece as most of them, has no idea about aviation matters.

Some have 4

Experienced pilot, cross-country training flight, C-152 with four seats. Guess you could buy a journalism degree these days, in all fairness you could buy a pilots license too. ATP's got them on sale...
