Pilots 'attacked' as louts shine blinding laser pens into cockpit of passenger plane coming in to land

Unfortunately this will only be taken seriously AFTER an airliner impacts the ground on approach somewhere...until then it's just an "amusing" anecdote for the general public. Grrrr...

What the hell is wrong with this picture just like the cleb that did it next they could use a gun and get away with it as it will do as much damage as a pilot blinded by the laser, it may not be an airliner it could be a single pilot airplane crashing into a building killing many on the ground around the building as well as some inside. Hang em High is my motto on these things take a hard line about it and it will stop.

All three of them should be arrested for attempted murder, as crazy as it may sound.

Well, unfortunately, ZACHARY is right. Landings are intense and a time of focus anyway and even moreso at night, which is why the "sterile cockpit" rule anyway, and anything that breaks that focus is a recipe for disaster. That being said, it's just a joke right now and until it starts getting treated seriously, it will take a crash/loss of life and then everybody will howl about "why wasn't something done?"

I don't understand how one can smash a mail box and get the book thrown at them but if you endanger several lives you get off with a warning. What a freaking screwed up country we live in.

Oh hey.. Guess I didn't pay close enough attention to the details. So I know it happens in the US cause I hear the chatter on the mic from commercial pilots saying they are getting hit with laser pointers. Is the penalty heaftier in the US?
