To Reach Simple Life of Summer Camp, Lining Up for Private Jets
Gov. Paul LePage of Maine happened to be waiting for his flight at Augusta State Airport on a recent Saturday when the weekend crush began. A turboprop Pilatus PC-12 carrying Melissa Thomas, her daughter, her daughter’s friend and a pile of lacrosse equipment took off for their home in Connecticut, following the girls’ three-week stay at Camp All-Star in nearby Kents Hill, Me. i thought the government destroyed general aviation?!? what's obama waiting for? ;) interesting read, although i doubt myself nor most readers of this article could afford to send their children to camp via a citation or gulfstream.
So three couples whose kids are at the same camp charter a B200 for about the same as they can all fly commercial (in a third of the time), what's the big deal? If you can send your kid to a $10G summer camp, it's not a stretch. I can't afford it either, but I wish I could, and don't resent the people who can.
"If you can send your kid to a $10G summer camp, it's not a stretch." No joke!
Wow, these poor kids..Gotta ride on a private jet..Whatever happened to taking a bus to camp??
When I was a kid, it was a fantastic experience to get on a BUS to go to camp and escape the city life! These kids are destined for disappointment, since there is nowhere to go but down for them and their expectations.
I took 2 buses to Camp. that is not the point!
Why are we hating on people that are using their money to employ pilots, ramp personnel, maintenance & paying FAA Fuel Taxes while congress gave the Airlines a Tax Holiday on ticket Taxes!
Aviation creates jobs, Summer camps creates jobs!
Should I take the greyhound to OshKosh later this week?

Indy, everyone in life experiences disapointment. A kid doesn't have to rich, or poor, to take a few lumps. One thing I noticed when working such charters, the kids of the rich tend to be more polite and respectful than the average. I would say that most are destined for success in life, because their parents are preparing them for the responsiblity of wealth. Your statements ring of class envy.
