A electrical fire damaged the Eviation Alice all electric aircraft prototype, while undergoing ground tests at Prescott Regional Airport in Arizona.

The under development all electric commuter aircraft was slated for maiden flight later this year.

Video shows one of its wing tip mounted electric motor under fire. The fire was quickly contained by firefighters.

Latest reports indicate the cabin and cockpit has sustained extensive fire damage.

The Alice is powered by three electric motors located at its wing tips and aft fuselage in pusher configuration, delivering a total of 900 kW power.

The composite aircraft is equipped with a 920 kWh Li-Polymer battery that runs throughout the aircraft.

With a 540 nm range and 9 seats, the Alice was designed for low cost commuting with a projected $200 per flight hour cost.
