jobeard - the front fuselage around the engine and cockpit of this Hawker Fury was covered with metal, not fabric. It was appropriately polished to reflect the natural metal colour!

This is a Hawker Fury Mk.I, reported to be the only example in flying condition. Powered by a liquid cooled 525 h.p. Rolls Royce Kestrel engine, it is maintained and operated by the Historic Aircraft Collection.

The aeroplane shows s/n K5674 and is on the U.K. civil aircraft registry as G-CBZP.
