N776PC — - A very unexpected discovery on the ramp at Reno Stead Airport yesterday was this Pilatus PC-6 Turbo Porter (N776PC), built in 1977. This is the first picture of N776PC to be posted into the FA gallery.br /It still has its ex-Austrian Air Force reg ... 3G-EJ. It was only a couple of minutes after 12 oclock noon and there wasnt a cloud in the sky so the sun was right overhead and beating straight down. That made the lighting a bit harsh, but I was not about to turn down my chance to get a photo of this wonderful old aircraft.

It still has its ex-Austrian Air Force reg ... 3G-EJ. It was only a couple of minutes after 12 o'clock noon and there wasn't a cloud in the sky so the sun was right overhead and beating straight down. That made the lighting a bit harsh, but I was not about to turn down my chance to get a photo of this wonderful old aircraft.

I had been invited to be a media photographer at a Press Conference by Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval in which Governor Sandoval appeared at Reno Stead Airport to announce the official opening and launch of a joint NASA-UNR (University of Nevada Reno) unmanned drone office and program. After the conference and tour concluded, I went back outside to check the aircraft on the RTS ramp and there were several classics there. So being at the Press Conference paid a double dividend to me.

A good photo Gary under not the most artistic lighting conditions, and an interesting aircraft.

Thank you, Jim. I'm going back again at a more "photo-friendly" hour of the day (either early AM or later afternoon PM) to shoot better pics. I saw a couple of old MiGs there I hope to get shots of, too.

Brings back memories of the movie "Air America". Go to the hangars on the East end of the ramp and see if you can get a shot of "Rare Bear" or 232.
beautiful photo , super old aircraft

Very nice find Gary, this must have been super exciting to get to see. I have been actively flying for over 5 years now, been hanging around airports for a good majority of the last ten and I have never seen one or even heard one over the radios. I hope one day I will get the chance to see and photograph one like you have done here. Well Done!
