O.K., a B-17 with a smoking engine. Is this a WWII shot or a recent one of a restored B-17?

From the tail number, that is the restored Sally B. It either has a smoke system installed or a real bad problem.

This is common at airshow re-enactments. (Smoke kit.) Single gear jam is another common one.

Yep, it's a restored on, it was at Duxford Airshow last month
