Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress (N7227C)
A scene that I'm sure played out often at RAF Duxford throughout the 1940s on display at Dallas Executive in 2018. B-17G Flying Fortress "Texas Raiders" passing by C-53 "D-Day Doll" on takeoff at the 2018 Commemorative Air Force Wings Over Dallas airshow (Please view in "full" for highest image quality)
Comments
um the near aircraft with D-0Day markings on the wings is a C-47 not a C-53....
John- Actually it is a C-53, a C-53 is a variant of the C-47. The C-53 was a "stock" DC-3 without the reenforced floor, larger cargo door, and other military upgrades. Due to the shortage of C-47s initially at the start of the War these C-53s were put into service as transports and served throughout the conflict
Umm... Garrett, that's a C-53....
