Notice the barrier across Runway 17R-35L in the background. That runway, which was closed for many months less than two years ago so it could be completely removed and replaced, is already closed again because pieces of the surface are (to use the term being stated by the Reno Tahoe Airport Authority) "flaking." Although one local TV channel downplayed the situation by reporting that Runway 17R-35L had merely been "resurfaced" (making it seem as tho the original work done on it was simply a maintenance project), the truth of the matter is that the runway had been completely torn up, all concrete had been removed, and a totally new runway had been poured.... at a cost of around 16 million (a cost fact that the one local channel also failed to mention in its report). The affected runway was closed back in October of last year and it is hoped that it can be repaired and made useable again by July. Only in Reno would an airport pay 16M to have a runway reconstructed to modern century standards and end up getting a last century product. lol Makes me wonder how safe it will be for people to use the new terminal concourse that is under construction and slated to open ... in 2029. (Probably will collapse in 2030.)

Hi Gary! This is a great shot of the Ohio ANG KC-135R based out of Rickenbacker in Columbus. You can count the rivets! It looks like the snowline has retreated up to (maybe) 7000 feet. But bad news about the status of 17R-35L.

Hey, Chris, howdy and Thanx. Yes, the snowline is gradually retreating uphill but I have plenty of pics with snow in the background ... far, FAR more than last winter. As for the runway situation, it is ludicrous that a totally new 11000 foot long runway is beginning to crumble just over a year after being poured. But then again, this is Reno Tahoe International ... serving an area of booming population growth and monster business expansion but an airport that doesn't progress beyond its 1900s heyday ... and brags about its progress only to end up doing something that makes it look incompetent every time. And hey, Chris, two emails headed your way. I've sent you 3 military metal pics so far; five more pics coming (most are more military) so pls keep an eye open for them. (Wave)

Hi Gary, I got the photos of the EA 18G and the Grumman Hawkeye. Also have received the photos taken last week at Fallon, plus the arrival of the Spirit A320 into RNO. I'll be keeping an eye out for further incoming!

CLASSIC Gman! 59-1458 I may have seen this at BFI Seattle then...prior to 1964. Of course I was between 6 and 10yrs old, but there were so many 'Caseys' at Seattle back then....this is a great photo, can you imagine if you grabbed a quartet here? OMG!
