Food poisoning and bad water kill more folks than mentally unstable flight crew members. The latter is a very visible, yet extremely rare event. Want a 100% secure life per my first example, quit eating and drinking. Not very practical. Go here http://www.planecrashinfo.com/cause.htm and look at the numbers. Pretty much says that the odds of getting on and off a commercial airliner safely somewhere is "almost" 100% in your favor. Need better odds, stay home. The other part of the stats say a few flights don't have a happy ending. You get more and more of this stuff from a media I now rank with pols. and lawyers. Just sayin.
