I personally think the CVR will tell us more in this case. With 2 senior pilots, I think they got hit with something wx wise, out of left field, and that the aircraft would not do what they wanted it to do to get out of it. I doubt it would have made any difference whether it was a Boeing or Airbus. It all seemed to happen so fast, no declaration of Emergency or PanPan, all was seemingly routine, then blam, nothing. It will be interesting.
When there was all that issue with the Pitot systems on the A330, there was also an AD for the ones on the 320....not Monday morning quarterbacking but, I wonder if it was fully done in this case. I remember my airline started out by replacing the Captains Pitot tubes, and technically had 2 years for the FO and Stby sides to be completed, both 330 and 320's. With the "flight laws" of the Airbus...it will be interesting to see what "law" they were in when they went down. Horrible position to be in, needing to deviate and unable due to traffic.
I didn't realize there was an AD on the 320's as well. It will be interesting
