Rerouting Flights to Avoid Contrails Would Slow Climate Change

提交時間:

Rerouting the flight paths of commercial aircraft to minimize the condensation trails, or contrails, they leave behind would help slow global warming, even if the new flight path is longer, according to research published today. (e360.yale.edu) 更多...

This study is a pant load. The winds mix the air thoroughly at high altitudes. The winds mix the air thoroughly at low altitudes. Maybe a very brief effect. And no, areThree, I'm not shooting the messenger. I'm glad you gave us the link. It demonstrates how dogma and science are interchangeable with with agenda driven people. I'm willing to bet the author had the conclusions written before the study was started.

I deal with agenda driven policies every single day at work. 28 years now. It gets old.

More Junk Science from the alarmist crowd. The big problem is that there are no data or science to support a relationship of CO2 to climate, only highly flawed computer modeling which becomes more divergent each year. The Warmists are now grasping at straws given there has been no warming for 17 years while CO2 has increased, even stating that the warm temperatures are being stored on the ocean bottom...and now we call it "Climate Change". They have made this a religion somewhat akin to Scientology without Ron L. Hubbard's imagination. It is about political and economic control not the environment.

I agree that dogma can surely interfere with "scientific reports", and I know that "science" can be used as a weapon in arguments. The quotes are there because I believe in actual, real science, carried out by people who don't have an agenda and want to see the unbiased results, no matter what they will be. It's too bad that the one tool for seeking out the truth of things has been marred by people wanting to use it to publish what they believe to be true. I appreciate your input and candor and want to see another study tests the results published in that article.

Quite frankly, I hope there is no further money spent on this. It HAS to be federal government funded. No one else would waste their time and money.

Warmies are clawing at straws to get their carbon tax instituted. Think about it. Winds aloft at FL 25-40 run from 50-150kts. Sometimes more. So, a contrail will move miles in just a few minutes. So, to keep this scenario "valid", aircraft would have to follow the wind patterns rather than their flight plan.

A total crock.

But, look at it from an alarmist warmie's standpoint. Anything goes, real or imagined, to justify taxing this middle class white male at a higher rate. Sigh...

Wow, talk about shooting the messenger! You can not like the content of the message, but is that really a reason to eject it? Not my fault that they came up with the conclusions they did...
The science looks valid (here): http://iopscience.iop.org/1748-9326/9/6/064021/article

I don't like what it is saying either (who wants to go 60 miles out of their way?), but I thought that the general and professional aviation community would want to hear what some folks are saying, and if what they are saying is backed by scientific proof, shouldn't we at least give it a read? Sorry that I brought it up if it is just going to get ejected - or were all those just gut reactions whenever someone talks about "climate change", or "contrails" ? Both rich ground for kooks, granted... man I have never seen an article downvoted before for just bringing something up!

Don't know who all hit the eject button. Some don't understand the concept of shooting the messenger. If you had written it that would be one thing. While I think it is BS, it is good to hear what's out there, IMHO.

Somebody has way too much time on their hands. What a load of BS.

You can read the study here:

Lots of hits on Google, all point back to this single study.
I haven't personally read thru it yet.
