Analysis: Boeing Clarifies Plans For Stretched 737 MAX
If enough airlines bite, the MAX 10X will be formally launched as a new 737 variant for entry into service (EIS) by 2020. (airwaysmag.com) 更多...Sort type: [Top] [Newest]
This would not be good enough to replace the 757 as it does not have the range. A little like trying to close a hole with half a patch. It might narrow the edges but a big gap is still obvious.
Boeing should focus on developing a new plane similar to the 757, or at least simply upgrade the 757 as they are doing with the 777. The 737 Max is fine, but Airbus is currently beating Boeing with the A320/A321 Neo which hold more passengers and have the same range. The A321 Neo even has an LR variant with more range.
absolutely...though there may not be a big enough market for a totally new plane... and the 737 is just about maxed out...oh...couldn't resist
I agree, just modernize the design/engines of the 757-200. All we hear is how great a plane it is, range, capacity, hot weather, etc. Ignore the engineers and ditch a totally new iteration with all the B787 advances and new design and do what has worked so well with the B757.
And they would have to change the gear or put up with a lot of tail strikes!
True. The 300 has different gear and a retractable skid on the tail for that very reason. If they are to lighten the aircraft and re-engine they would have to use that longer model extending the range beyond that achieved with the weight and engine upgrades.
