German deputy minister calls on airlines to lower fuel surcharges

提交時間:

Airlines should lower their fuel surcharges to reflect a recent decline in oil prices, Gerd Billen, Germany's deputy minister of justice and consumer protection, said on Tuesday. "Airlines have justified price increases with high fuel costs for a long time. If kerosene prices decline, that should be passed on to customers," he told Reuters. (uk.reuters.com) 更多...

Before this Pinko minister gives away everyone's money, how about he pony up for the defense of his country for oh...the last 70 years. What gives him the right to determine that if a company makes a little profit, it should be shared with customers? How about the shareholders of the company? They could use a shekel from time to time.

Because the company, shareholders and country defense over the last 70 years can neither write campaign donation checks nor vote for his party in the next election cycle. The term 'pandering' comes to mind.

Fuel prices do not automatically rise and fall with oil prices, depending on how the oil stock is used up - and how much the oil company wants to fleece the market.

It sounds a bit pedantic, but perhaps he should have suggested that airlines lower surcharges with FUEL prices - which actually may NOT have dropped with the price of oil.

Strange too, look at the last paragraph of the story and he totally reverses himself.
