CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Frontier Airlines announced just minutes ago that it will add three new nonstops out of Northeast Ohio, bringing to 14 its nonstop additions at the Cleveland airport and making it the fastest-expanding location for the low-cost carrier this year.

The airline will begin four-day-a-week nonstop service to Washington-Dulles and Chicago O'Hare on Oct. 1. It will add six-day-a-week nonstop service to New York's LaGuardia Airport on Oct. 26.

As part of its announcement today at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, the airline said it has a one-day offer of rock-bottom fares of $19 each way to the three cities. The special fares are available only at the company's website, FlyFrontier.com. Check there for terms and conditions.

With the new cities, Frontier will offer 17 nonstop destinations out of Cleveland Hopkins, up from three at the beginning of the year.

Daniel Shurz, Frontier's senior vice president, commercial, said the response to the new flights out of Hopkins has been tremendous.

"Passenger loads in Cleveland are really high," he said.

Frontier has been the mostly actively expanding airline at Hopkins in the wake of United Airlines' announcement that it was pulling its hub out of Cleveland and cutting departures by two-thirds. That downsizing concluded in June.

Airport Director Ricky Smith said Frontier's latest expansion demonstrates that the traveling public out of Hopkins will support airlines "with the right product at the right price."

"And there's more to come, this airline and others," Smith added. He said the announcement on those new flights will likely come this summer.
