Passengers help soldier pull off surprise airport proposal

SACRAMENTO, C.A. - Hearts were gushing at Sacramento International Airport for a soldier's homecoming ceremony – but this wasn't your typical welcome home celebration.

After serving multiple deployments overseas, U.S. Army Sgt. Anthony Vance decided to make one more commitment.

The soldier who has served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, had a surprise for one special lady.

Misty Kennedy thought she was at the airport to welcome her boyfriend from a 6-month deployment in South Korea.

But, once random passengers started coming down the escalator and handing her roses, she knew something else was up.

"He recruited 22 passengers on his plane to pass out roses to Misty as they come down the escalator," Vance's mother Erica Lizotte said.

The final rose came from Vance himself. Watch the video above to see the magical moment when Vance got down on one knee.

She said yes in front of hundreds of people at the airport.

"[I'm] overwhelmed, excited, this is more than I could have ever imagined," Kennedy said.

Kennedy said she was in the dark about the proposal, but the newly engaged couple isn't wasting anytime. They plan on getting married July 4th before Vance heads back to South Korea.

"I've been looking forward to it for quite some time," Vance said. "It's going to be awesome."
